This is an artwork I made about 18 months ago for an exhibition that celebrated my home town Rome, as seen through the eyes and the interpretation of several comic book artists and illustrators. I wanted to go full-on William Gibson with this. Looking back at it now, I focused too much on the execution and I missed the opportunity to explore the concept design more. I'm positive I would not do the same mistake now. Maybe I'll pick this up again at some point, and push more on the design side of things.
The execution was a combination of sketching and photobashing coming from my realistic painting days, and a somehow more stylized rendering and simplified shapes I've got used to while working on Sea of Thieves. Putting the two approaches together is something I had never really tried before, hopefully something decent and interesting came out of this.
